Battle at the Beach

· All games are running time (40 minutes) there will be one clock kept by tournament director. All games will begin and end on main horn. No time-outs.

· All time-serving penalties will be running time, time to be kept by the official on the field.

· 10 seconds to clear ball out of defensive half of field. Once cleared there is no re-entry (basketball rules). Fields will be lined with midlines ONLY – no restraining lines.

· Each game will start with a face-off. Attack and Defense must be goal line or behind goal. After each goal, the goalie or team who has been scored upon will pick ball out of cage and play. 10 second count starts once ball is picked up. There is no stoppage in play!

· Championship bracket seeding will be determined by the round-robin results and standings.

· “Braveheart” rules: 1 player per team plus each teams goalie. Goalie cannot cross midfield. Start with face-off, and play until goal is scored. First goal is the winner.

· No cursing will be tolerated. 1^st offense is a 30-second penalty. 2^nd offense results in removal of game.

Coaches – I hope that all of you are doing well. We are excited to host you for our 11^th Annual “Battle at the Beach” on Saturday! I truly appreciate you bringing your teams to our campus this weekend. I’m looking forward to a great day of lacrosse. The weather forecast looks great, but please be aware that we will play rain or shine / warm or cold! Attached to this email are our tournament rules & brackets, as well as our schedule (all round robin games are 40 minutes, all tournament games are 30 minutes). All teams will play at least 4 games. Bracket winners will play 6 games. Runners-up in each bracket will play 5 games. We will award team trophies to the champion & runner-up as well as award trophies to our 10 man All-Tournament team immediately following the championship round (approximately 5PM). Following are a few reminders:

REGISTRATION

All games will be held on campus at Virginia Wesleyan College. All fields are located on our practice fields located directly behind our stadium. Directions to campus are available online at www.vwc.edu. Team coaches need to check in at the registration tent on Saturday prior to your 1^st game. Each team will receive 20 “Battle” tee-shirts that will serve as team jerseys. If you plan to wear your own reversibles or jerseys you are more than welcome to – your team still receives their set of tee-shirts. Each team coach will also receive a packet with rosters, schedules, rules, etc. You will need to pay the remaining balance for your team if you have not already done so – please be sure that all checks are payable to MARLIN LACROSSE CAMPS. The following teams have paid in full: Toxic Lacrosse, ORNOJO, Eagles Lacrosse , Catholic, Williamsburg Warriors, Triad LC, & Piedmont LC. All other teams please have the remainder of your payment ready prior to your 1^st game. Again, all payments to MARLIN LACROSSE CAMPS.

ROSTERS

We still need rosters from Cape Henlopen, Old North State Red, Old North State Gold, & Eagles Lacrosse. Coaches – please have those in by Wednesday!

VENDING / CONCESSIONS

Great Atlantic Lacrosse will be on site all day with raffles & give-aways. We will have a concession stand on site selling drinks & food.

LODGING

The Colonial Inn is booked. However, the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort is offering rooms at $65.00 with their team discount. They are located on the oceanfront, 20 minutes from campus. Phone # is 757-428-1711 ext. 1153; ask for Kim Liller, sports sales manager.
